I bought too much skincare and cosmetics…

Massive haul of goodies!

I did a lot of shopping in Japan and Korea–perhaps more than i’d like to admit–but anyway, here we go with part 1 of my shopping haul: skincare and cosmetics!

In the months leading up to this trip, I was finding it more and more challenging to drag myself out of bed everyday and push through my daily routine. Whenever I find myself in a rut like that, I look for tangible motivation–something to focus on to pump me up and get me excited to move forward each day. In this case, I decided to give myself the reward of a little bit or a lot of much needed retail therapy.

Now I realize that this haul is pretty massive… and I did feel a bit guilty about it at first… but when I consider the fact that if I were to walk into a Canadian Sephora and spend the same amount of money, I would get less than a quarter of the amount of stuff, it makes me feel much better about my purchases. Even ordering online is pretty unappealing because for the amount I spend just to cover the shipping costs to my house, I could have bought a whole extra product. I also likely won’t be able to make it back to Asia for at least the next two years so this is my stash until then.

I did a lot of research before leaving on my trip and learned even more while I was there. Here’s my haul:

    Masks, sunscreen, and skincare galore.

Essences, peels, concealers, scrubs, cleansers, and more.

CosRX AHA/BHA Clarifying Treatment Toner, Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence, and AHA 7 Whitehead Power Liquid.

Klairs Mochi BB Cushion and Freshly Juiced Vitamin C Serum, especially excited to try both of these.

Tony Moly Super Peeling Liquid foot peels and BANILA CO. Miss Flower & Mr Honey Essence Oil, which was surprisingly hard to track down.

To be honest, going into it the Honey Essence Oil wasn’t even that high on my list of priorities until I actually attempted to buy it. I kid you not, I checked at least 10 different Banila locations and every single one of them was totally sold out. The more times this happened, the more I wanted to buy it, because I figured if it was this high in demand, there must be something special about it. Luckily I had my friend there to talk to a sales associate and confirm that it hadn’t been discontinued otherwise I was all ready to give up on my search. I finally found it at a Banila counter on the 6th floor of LOTTE FITIN.

My favourite Dolly Wink pencil liner, Etude House Play 101 Stick for my undereye circles, Tony Moly Backstage Gel Eyeliner OiOi Edition, and Skinfood Salmon Dark Circle Concealer Cream.

Missha Time Revolution First Treatment Essence. They were having a huge BOGO sale on everything so I was able to get these for basically half price.

Shiseido Medicated Baby Powder, Pore Master Sebum Control Primer & Matte Gel (both of which smell amazing).

Holika Holika Gudetama Cushion Refills, Biore Sarasara UV Aqua Rich Watery Essence Sunscreens.

PETITFEE Black Pearl and Gold Hydrogel Eye Patches, THEFACESHOP Air Cotton Makeup Base SPF 30 PA++ in Mint

    Japanese hydrocolloid patches.

KOSE Softymo Speedy Cleansing Oil with Refill, Nature Republic Ice Puff Sun (BOGO), and Kobayashi Japan Fever Cooling Gel Pads.

LuLuLun Face Mask Rich Moisture and Gold Moisture packs.

Etude House Collagen Eye Patches, and Holika Holika Gudetama LAZY & JOY Photo Ready Cushion BB and case.

Skinfood Gummy Bear Jelly Hand Gel, Black Sugar Mask Wash Off, and Peach Cotton Multi Finish Powder.

Mediheal PiggyMom SoakSoak Nose Pack and CosRX Low-pH Good Morning Cleanser.

Papa Recipe Bombee Honey Mask packs.

Missha Super Aqua Cell Renew Snail Cream & Layer Blurring Primer (more BOGOs!).

    Lots of new beauty tools.

I had been wanting to get new make-up brushes for a while but I figured that I could find cuter ones in Korea for a way better value. I was able to buy a whole new set of make-up brushes as well as some other goodies including the Etude House jellyfish silicone brush, a foam maker, hair clips, headbands, a facial hair remover, spray bottles (for toners), a sharpener, and a silicone beauty blender. I really love Etude House’s colour scheme and their brushes are so pretty.

Daiso Blow-drying Glove and Italy Towels

    and now..

    on to samples!

    SO. MANY. SAMPLES!

One great thing about Korea is that they are extremely generous with their samples. I found this to be especially true at Skinfood where I would be rewarded with handfuls of samples even for the smallest purchase. Tony Moly was also pretty good while Etude house was hit or miss depending on the SA serving you.

I’m actually totally new to Asian skincare (or really just having any kind of skincare routine beyond a cleanser and moisturizer) so I will be slowly using these products to build up a routine for myself.
